Agora Maquina is a hyper dense city model that enables major movement and better connections, not only to the urban centers, but to the whole territory. It is set in the border that separates the city of Madrid from its suburbs, in a void caused by the railway infrastructure. The proposal covers this void with a megastructure that reconnects both sides of the neighborhood. The formal result is an urban section where the agora, the most inhabited part of the proposal, is placed in the streets, with direct access to the train platforms and surrounded by mixed use buildings. The project turns more into a maquina, meaning it loses social character as it gains an infrastructural one, by moving away from the agora, towards the lower levels, with the railway infrastructure, and to the upper ones with office space, air delivery logistic space and air mobility boarding areas. This new urban section integrates in the same place uses that until now were relegated to different locations in the map of cities, reducing in this way, the differences between the center of the cities and their peripheries. Agora Maquina explores how the city of social interaction can coexist with the city of logistic in a same place but can actually be enriched through this bound.

This idea is based on Massimo Cacciari's essay "La Città", where he describes these two issues as antagonistic.

This project, although it has many points in common with some urban speculations of the 1930s and 1970s, separates itself from them by establishing a clear stratification, where the center, the agora, is located at street level in the area of the canals and the adjacent residential blocks, and the city becomes more machine-like, as it moves away from this center downwards with the railway infrastructure and upwards, with the administrative program, workshops, goods distribution center, and transportation center.
